Olympics Closing Ceremony Natalia Vodianova

The closing ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics was said to be the first Olympics Closing Ceremony held in an indoor venue since the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. What made me decide to post an article about the Olympics Closing Ceremony was the appearance of Russian model Natalia Vodianova at the ceremony. Her all-white number intends to reach out and extend the greetings from Sochi, Russia where the 2014 Winter Olympics will be held.

Egg White Cake

After all the cookie bakings for the Chinese New Year, i am sure there are a lot of egg whites leftover in the fridge.  This cake is easy and a good way to use up the egg whites.  Although this cake has no yolks at all, it is just as good as any pound cake and second to none.  An orange glaze or chocolate glaze can be drizzled on top of cake for presentation.  I am always guilty of not dressing up my cakes, one, the family just love to eat cake, cake by itself without the frostings and toppings, two - guessed  we have not cultured ourselves well enough to have a sweet tooth.





Ingredients:

6 large egg whites
1 cup fine granulated sugar
1 1/4 cup bleached all-purpose flour
2 tbsp potato starch or cornflour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp poppy seeds
1 tbsp zest of orange/lemon
1 tbsp orange/lemon juice
1 stick/4 ozs melted butter , slightly cooled

Method:


Whisk the egg whites on medium speed until foamy and slightly thick, add  2 Tbsp of sugar and continue to whisk until thick and pale and very foamy.

Mix the rest of the sugar with flour, potato starch/cornflour, salt, poppy seeds, zest and baking powder, then add into the egg mixture, a third at a time, together with orange and lemon juice and fold in gently. 
Finally fold in cool melted butter.

Pour the batter into a buttered bundt pan and bake in a pre-heated 350 f oven for 30-40 minutes. Test for doneness with a wooden toothpick.

Cool slightly before turning out of the bundt pan.

This free educational app features a cute little monster that makes the funniest noises!





It asks you a question and you have to choose an answer (and feed it to the monster).





If you get it right, you hear a monster-equivalent of yippee. If you get it wrong, it sticks its tongue out and says something like yuck. It's tempting to get some answers wrong, just to hear that!





The funniest bit is 'tickling' the monster by touching parts of its body. It makes hilarious noises and makes us laugh!





Admittedly, the content ranges from colours to fractions, and it's not possible to choose a level yet so it's not always suited to a younger player's abilities. But it comes in different languages and it's entertaining.

It's worth it, just to hear my son giggle!

Fifth Station: The Cross is Laid on Simon of Cyrene

Leader: O holy Christ, we worship you, we adore you;
People: A stranger unwillingly came to your aid and his life was changed.

Simon of Cyrene was merely a bystander in that rough crowd. As Jesus struggled, the soldiers knew he would need aid carrying his cross. Their eyes scanned the crowd. Simon's eyes looked downward. "Please don't choose me," he thought. "I have nothing to do with this. I merely came in from the country for Passover. Please, Lord. Not me." But perhaps it was his unwilling posture that caught their eye, and they dragged him out to carry Jesus' cross.

As his eyes met those of Jesus, Simon could suddenly see the pain of a broken world in Christ's countenance. From the center of his battered face, unquenchable eyes shone. From that moment, Simon unquestionably carried Jesus' cross.

Leader: Simon of Cyrene had no cross of his own to take up
People: So instead he willingly bore the cross of another.

Leader: Let us pray.
(a brief period of silence is observed.)

Holy God,
You come to us when we do not want you to appear.
You ask us to carry the crosses of others
When we do not desire to even carry our own.
Grant us the courage to carry those crosses
even when we would rather someone else do it.
Grant us the ability to see the privilege in being chosen to serve others.
Fill our hardened hearts
with the ability to serve our God,
even when we are feeling unwilling and unworthy to serve you.

Can I get infectious diseases from tattoo needles?

There are some concerns recently about the spread of disease (especially
Hepatitis-B and AIDS [HIV])
To consider whether a clean environment you been tattooed?
Are needles used for tattooing reused on other customers? If so you should avoid tattoos in these places
Because the spread of the disease in the activities of the tattoo depends on the cleanliness and needles used
Make sure they use needles only for single-use
And in case you should also consider the Hepatitis-B immunization
